The Convocation Travel Awards for 2008 close next Friday. These awards are worth up to $2500 each, for postgraduate research students planning on non-conference travel related to their work. For full details and application forms, visit the website: http://www.graduates.uwa.edu.au/awards/pgrta. Applications for the Postgraduate Teaching Internship Scheme are currently open. The Postgraduate Teaching Internship Scheme allows promising doctoral research students (including professional doctoral students) to develop teaching skills in their fields and to undertake a program of professional development activities during the course of their PhD candidature. Applications close on Monday September 8, and take a while to complete, so if you're interested, now's the time to start working on it! Full details at: http://www.teachingandlearning.uwa.edu.au/tl4/for_uwa_staff/grants_and_funding/postgraduate_teaching_internship_scheme.
From Monday 21st July, 2008 the Library will employ a pool of Casual Librarians to assist students with information and research queries after hours. One Librarian will be rostered during each evening (6-10pm) and weekend shift (10am – 6pm) to students. The Librarian will be physically located in the Reid Library and be able to assist all students in person, over the phone or via email / Ask a Librarian. Congratulations to Monique Robinson, Ashley Horton, Ruth Morgan, Rachael Hains-Wesson, and Christopher White. They got $200 to inprove their department/school/faculty postgrad experience. Help them celebrate at Connect 5-6pm UniClub Cafe Thursday August 7. Renovations on the PSA Lounge are currently underway, so things are a bit crowded at the moment, and there are occasionally workers in there knocking over walls or pulling tables to bits. The lounge is still usually useable, we apologise for any disruptions to meetings over the next couple of weeks. Connect is happening again in 2008. Hang with other postgrads and meet the PSA over free drinks and pizza at the University Club Cafe on the first Thursday of the month 5-6pm. Congratulations to Rasha Ruhayel, Laura D’Olympio, Sophie Sunderland, Verena Kaminiarz and Daniel Gucciardi for winning a PSA Travel Award. Look out for Semester 2's Awards if you are travelling later in the year. The new PSA Committee works for you! Find out who they are on the Committee page. Are you new to postgrad life at UWA?
