The Institute of Advanced Studies Postgraduate seminar series
To coincide with the next set of visits by distinguished scholars and communicators we are presenting informal discussion sessions to which you are invited. The IAS provides the venue for the presentations and informal discussions. We hope that the ambience of the IAS makes the occasion special for the participants, separate from their usual environments and free of departmental associations, a particularly useful feature for cross-disciplinary groups.

CONVOCATION
Did you know that the UWA Graduates Association is providing all graduates of the University with access to a free lifetime email address? It's expected that this will provide a mechanism to network, to maintain contact with peers and to provide information about events at UWA. The UWAGA is hoping to provide job information using this mechanism. For more information visit: http://www.graduates.uwa.edu.au

SPORS
http://www.catl.uwa.edu.au/evaluation_of_teaching_unit/spors
The primary objective of this project, Student Perceptions of Research Supervision (SPORS), is to facilitate discussion between supervisors and their students. In addition, the Evaluation of Teaching Unit (ETU) will use the results to develop a more general understanding of research supervision practice at UWA.
Participation in the SPORS process is voluntary for both supervisors and students. It should be noted that UWA is committed to quality teaching and excellence in research and the SPORS initiative is consistent with both of these objectives. We are therefore very keen to attract widespread participation in this process. There is no inappropriate time to use this system - it is recommended for use early in a research candidature and then on an ongoing basis.
